Abstract
The high entropy alloys has been one of the hot topics in metallic materials. The random solid solutions with multiprincipal alloying elements in HEAs show chemical distorted solid in a crystalline lattice. The atomic size differences of the alloying elements require a criterion for the lattice instability. After literature review, we gain further insight on the atomic size effect in the HEAs by topological packing instability analyses.
